ok hybrid gurus...i've never done the hybrid thing but i am a fan of the JB however, i'd like a touch more bass in one of my JB equipped guitars but i do like the voice of the JB so i'd like to keep it similar to that and stay away from custom shop prices if possible. sooooo..what do i mix with a JB to add a bit more low end and keep a high output still...above 14K and the closer to the 16K of the JB the better.

is it even possible?

thanks.

Try adding the slug coil of a custom to the slot head coil of a jb, that will probably fatten up the bottom end. Use the magnet from the Jb and you will get a Custom 5 Jb hybrid, fatter lows with that still cutting mid range of the jb.

Yeah, I think a C5/JB hybrid would be orgasmic, and I know KorinaStratKyle made a 500t/JB hybrid that he loved.

Eh, what they said. I just made a custom/PG(59?) hybrid I like.

Hard to explain with out pics but I'll try...

both coils have a white and a black wire (they connect to the wires of the 4-conductor cable) The white is FINISH, and goes to either the red (slot coil) or the other white (slug coil) of the cable. The black is START and goes to the green (slot coil) or black (slug coil) of the cable.

Be careful when you take your pickup apart...but if you're talented enough to install four conductor pups in your guitar...you may be talented enough to does this mod too.

Have you tried to lower ther screws and set the pickup a bit higher? That doesn't give more bass but a warmer tone, may be would help you out...

I use both a PGB/Custom and a 59B/Custom Hybrid and they are great...Tight,articulate,ballsy tone at around 11k....

One is in my Love Rock's bridge position and the other is on a strat pickguard that I'll use on occassion in the bridge...

I've got that hybrid.....except with the large ceramic mag! Hopefully I'll know how it sounds tonite. I plan on eventually trying all the mags in it.Luke
