whats a good price for one of these ? and where is a cheap place to get one online ?

Original or Licensed?

I've sold ones from the 80's for about 80 bucks or so. New they go round 170. Biggest difference is most of the older ones have the screw-in style bar and the newer ones have the quot;sleevequot; style bar.

I'd strongly suggest either going for one of the originals (If you don't mind a brighter-sounding bridge), or one of the schaller licensed models. W/ a lot of the other licensed floyd models, its really difficult to figure if you're gettin a good one or not.

an original floyd rose. if that helps, not one of the lisenced or quot; lo-pro / pro quot; models thanks much i looked around but couldnt really find much :-\

The Schaller floyd rose is a pretty good one too.

Last I checked, Ed Roman had pretty good prices on his OFRs.

The originals from the mid-late eighties have the sleeve style bar, like the newer ones today. The very early ones have the screw-in.

I bought mine from Ed Roman. Just be specific as to what block ssize you need. If you get the wrong size block you can easilit order the correct one directly from Floyd Rose for cheap.

Ed Roman has the best prices cause he includes the nut in the price- every other place charges about $30 more for the nut

the block size? i´m about to get an ofr but the pro version, ? what´s the deal
JJ

i went in to guitar center today amp; ordered one, i dont support ed roman i dont really like that guy. if i ever get famous im going to wear an ed roman sucks t-shirt on stage every day. i just the standard OFR with the R2 nut ( 1 5/8'' ) in black.

I got the Floyd Rose Pro and love it, it's the low profile version like an Ibanez Edge. Anyway, the block size. There's 2 size blocks, one is for the non-recessed tremolo route (42 mm), the smaller one is for the recessed route. If you the larger block in a guitar with a recessed route, the block will stick out too car and you won't be able to mount the tremolo cover, plus the springs will be at an odd angle. The smaller block is meant for recessed tremolos and fits correctly.

Most guitar technicians don't know you can order another block from Floyd Rose and will leave you with an improperly installed Floyd.

i dont know anything about a block size, the only difference between the pro version amp; the original is the string spacing ( comming from the floyd rose website ) i like the 42 string spacing better which is why i went with the original and AFAIK they can both be put in recesses ?

The block sized are not listed on the web site, if you call up Floyd Rose you'll find out. Basically there's a block for a non-recessed route, and a different block for a recessed route.

Both can be put in recesses. If worse comes to worse just call Floyd Rose and for about $6 they'll send you the correct block

ah cool well thanks for the heads up !

THe profile of the trem is also different , as a result so is the rout... I´ve not used an FR PRO myself, but I think it´s that an OFR will fit into the PRO rout but not the other way around... I seem to recall some sort of stud spacing issue as well, but that could be my memory playing tricks on me
