Hey, I have an Aria TA-65 ES-335 copy that is in need of some new pots (ond, preferably, some better pickups as well. Now, thing is, for those of you not familiar with this particular type of guitar - its a semi-hollow (ES = Electro-Spanish). Which means no removable back plates, which means no easy acces to the pots.

Anybody have any idea on how to do this?

Do you like Fishing? Cuz' that's how ya do it. Get some thin twine ( I like the bakery twine they use to tie up cake boxes) Tie the string onto the pot, remove the nut,then fish it thru the F hole. Solder the new pot, tie the string on, Fish it back to the hole. It is a pain,But it's not to hard to do.

Yea, I rewired one two weeks back. Getting the guts out requires no effort, but getting em back in requires a little bit of thinking. KMC is right on the money as to how to reinstall them.

Oh, alright... Sh*t, I can tell this is gonna be a b*tch

I just worked on one of these.
If it has the original pots, then they will be encased in a screening box which is FRIGGIN' HUGE and only just fits through the back humbucker rout. You could try ditching that when you get the pots out; it'll make your life a whole lot easier.

Of course we don't have that option when we are working on a clients guitar...

Here's a tip for reinstalling the jack;

Get some patch cable, thin single core stuff.

Get some silicon tubing of the type sold by r/c model shops as fuel tubing.

Cut about two inches of silicon tubing. Use it to make a noose with the patch cable. feed it through the jack hole in the body.

Put the noose through the jack socket and slip it over the contact spring.

Push the silicon tubing down into the jack's port and pull the noose tight around the spring contact. This will allow you to draw the socket through the body and into the jack hole. Slip the washer and nut over the patch cable and down onto the jack. Tighten it up finger tight.

Pull the silicon tubing out, releasing the noose. push the patch cable into the socket to dislodge it from the spring contact; it will now come free.

Get a piece of tapered dowel and push it firmly into the port of the jack to stabilise it and stop it rotating while you tighten it with a spanner.

If there is a spring washer on the jack, don't omit it as this helps to stop the thing coming loose.

Tanx dude :-)
