Thinking ahead on my goldtop Schecter PT project. Which version do you like better? The maple neck is true to Pete Townsend's original. The rosewood board would make it a bit more Les-Paul-ish, tone-wise-speaking.

My other guitar is a maple-necked Tele Nashville.

The maple looks better on the mock-up. But I would think it's really a matter of tone vs. looks. And the tone is all you opinion..so...yeah...

go extream
get a floyd in that *****

howd you do the guitar pics

The same way everyone else does it, Kisekae.

Here's the link...

Maple.

For me, they both have their merits in terms of tone, and while my main axe has a maple neck now, I do miss the warmth and more rounded sound of a rosewood board. Maple just looks better to me to be honest. It's just nicer to look down and see my fingers dancing on a maple fingerboard than a rosewood one.

if you put a rosewood board neck on that killer body i'm flying to your house taking it off and flying home, no words said, just me and a screwdriver at the door hahahaha. rosewood on a tele just isn't right IMO.

MAPLE!! MAPLE!! MAPLE!! MAPLE!! MAPLE!! MAPLE!! MAPLE!!

Love that maple. Might go with cream pickups also. (and knobs)

Yeah man, Maple's the way to go on that guitar (if you're looking for somewhat tele tones, haha) but I HATE those glossy necks and fretboards, it just makes me sick! If it's a satin or flat finish then I'm all for it but glossy is the way of the devil!

I vote for the maple board

a BIG 1 on that one.

Maple.

If you're getting it to be a Pete Townshend quot;mock upquot; or whatever, go with maple. If you're getting it to be purely your guitar- rosewood. Nice, dark chocolate colored rosewood.

I like the look of maple, but the bigger issue for me is the tone. Maple just has that bite and clarity that work great for teles and strats. If you don't want it to sound like a tele, then rosewood would be okay, but maple is awesome on those.

Good for a while i was the only one who said rosewood
now i dont feel like an idiot

I knew maple would win, but had no idea how um... rabid the opinions would be.

Maple it is - now I need to find a neck I can afford, and that fits. See new thread coming to a computer near you.

Would Drooper play a maple neck? I think NOT!Seriously...I'd go with RW myself but the maple is cool too. Depends on what you want. Both look pretty sweet to me.

Actually, when I swap the neck on the PT, I'm thinking of building a teardrop semi-hollow quot;Drooper Modelquot; body and sticking the PT's rosewood-board, pointy-headstock neck on it. Maybe with one of those faux-sitar bridges on it. Groovy!
