Howdy, I have a set of what I think are Pre-1990 Duncan Distortion pickups. The necks tag says SEY-M, the forum and Allen at SD stated this is an early Distortion for the neck called a Seymourizer (sp?). The bridge is listed as DDJ. Both are 4 conductor and have Pickups stamped on the bottom, no Made In America on them.
I'd love to know what year the Seymourizer became available and if in fact these things are pre-1990 as I've been told. They were pulled out of a late '84 San Dimas Jackson Soloist Custom, could they be the original pickups? Soloists were built to order with Duncans in them, but were Seymounizers around back then?
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Yes... they are Pre-1990 Duncans and they might actually be the originals in your Jackson since they are second generation.
The earliest Duncans did not have the logo on the baseplate and the Made In America was added later, but I am not certain when the transition periods were.
I think the Seymourizer has been around since the beginning as I remember them from the very early 80's.
I remember installing one in the bridge positon of one of Tom Keifer's guitars and he loved it!
