can someone compare those 2 PUs?
I have a Dimebucker and really like it, now I want to know the differences to the Lawrence (as I'll probably never be able to test one unless I order it)
I heard people say the DB cant match the L500, what do you think?
IMO, it cant! Thats my opinion though! The Dime has a huge treble spike and lots of fizzy distortion to it. The XL500 is very balanced and it has almost a singing quality to it when playing solo's vs. the Dime sounds really gainy and fuzzy on single notes. The XL500 can get mean when playing power chords and has great plam chunking to it also. The XL500 has to be the most versatile pickup I have ever played also! It sounds great when playing in the middle position with a neck bucker. It sort of has an acoustic kind of twang to it.
I would also have to say the L-500-XL is superior in my opinion because of the dynamics that the pickup can produced. It even has a nice round, full, and mid enriched bluesy clean sound that can go really well with a tube screamer style overdrive.
hmmm, does that mean the XL500 is more versatile and so on and the Dimebucker is better for the heavy stuff?
did I get this right?
