I have a '59 in the bridge of an SG Standard. Would you use another '59 in the neck or roll with a Pearly? I'm looking for early ZZ Top, Beano, Angus tones.

For Angus' tone, a pair of 59's into a cranked Marshall would be tough to beat.

For ZZ Top, the Pearly's in a Paul are IT, though I don't know how they'd do in an SG. For the Beano tone, I think you'd get closest with Seth's, although again, that's in a Paul.

I have heard that the '59 combo is the way to go in an SG, but I'm a little scared off by the reviews that said the '59 neck is very bassy and inarticulate. I want to use the neck pup for heavy blues/hard rock soloing, as well as play clean runs though it and I need those notes to be clear and fat.
