On Monday, milkbone was nice enough to let us know about MF closing out Korg Ampworks for $49. I had been looking for something to practice through late at night, so I jumped on it. I figured that for $50, it would work even if it semi-sucked. Well, it got here this afternoon and let me tell you...
If you are needing something to practice through headphones, you can't beat this thing for $50. Yeah, I wish it had more presets. Yeah, I wish that you could combine the effects in any way that I could think of. Yeah, it's like most modeled stuff in that the punch is missing anywhere below G on the low E string. It has 11 amp models, 11 cabinets, and 9 effects, and it's $50! I've been playing through the thing for about three hours now, and I can't recall the last time that I got so much for $50.
Thanks for pointing it out, milkbone. I owe you one.
Rob
Oh, BTW... It likes single coils, but it loves a JB.
i've got 1 in my MF cart but i cant decide if i really need it.. i already have a vox tonelab and a V-amp2... the thing i really like about it though is how small it is and that it can run off batteries
You know . . . I was thinking: this thing is small enough, you could build it right into the body of a guitar, and have a killer quot;travelquot; guitar.
