Hey all, I've started looking for an acoustic guitar so I can play around my house and go to friends houses without bringing around my amp, and just so I can have an acoustic guitar. I've found a style and design I like, but theres the choice of without a solid top which is less expensive, and then the solid top which is about 100 dollars more expensive. What are the differences in tone between the two types of tops? Is it really noticeable?

Think of a Plywood Strat copy and a Mexico strat... that´s the difference, tonally ... IMO a solid top on an acoustic is absolutely essential for proper sound transfer = tone

Go for the solid top!!!! Solidtops tone gets better with age and a laminated top will always sound the same....
