Alright here are my plans for my warmoth strat. There are a lot of definites, and a lot of undecideds. I'm hoping maybe you guys could help me out with this. I'm about ready to order the parts.

Neck definites:

Full birdseye maple contruction, warmoth pro, angled back headstock, 25.5quot;, abalone dot inlays, standard thin back profile, Jumbo frets.

Undecideds:

1 5/8 or 1 11/16quot; nut width, I'll figure this out on my own later, heavily leaning toward 1 11/16quot;.

straight 12quot; or 14quot; radius. I can't decide on that yet.

locking nut or graph tech nut, see below for that. Body Definites:

strat body, heel contour, top routed, dual humbucker. I decided to add a little flash to this one and go with a two tone flame finish, candy blue over alpine white.

Undecideds:

Wilkinson or Floyd. This is also dependent on the neck radius I choose. I want the bridge saddle radius to match the neck for better action. OFR's are only available in 10quot; so that's out, but The Schaller one is available in 14quot;. The wilkinson has adjustable saddles so that's not an issue.

If I go with a wilkie it'll have a graphtech nut and sperzel locking tuners. with a floyd, locking nut and grovers.

Body wood, I'm heavily leaning toward basswood with a maple cap, other options are solid basswood or solid mahogany.

I'm not really a heavy trem user, but I like it to be there, and something that can take some abuse when it's needed. I don't have much experience with a wilkie so that's taken into consideration.

Let me know what you guys think. If you guys make suggestions it's okay if you suggest some stuff outside of the box here, but try to stay somewhat limited to the different options I have here, the key is I'm trying to NARROW down all these options to a guitar that'll be near perfect for me.

If you're not a heavy trem user I say go for the Wilkinson. Combined with a Graphtech nut and locking tuners it should stay in tune extremely well.

yeah that's what I was thinking. I forgot to add that, I'll add it above.

I could have sworn the OFR's are available with 10 and 14 inch radius.

I looked it up. Last time I did research all I could find was that OFR's are 10quot; and Schaller FR's are 14quot;.

and the saga continues!! hmmm now the floyd is back lol. in all honesty if your going to be using the trem...get a floyd...if your not going to use much or just once in a blue moon then get the wilkinson IMO. since your other two guitars are hardtails i'd consider the floyd. a wilkinson is just not the same. however if you go floyd i'd say go with a 10quot; radius and a real floyd...but that changes your radius ideas again....you know what...your more picky than me hahaha. i'll talk to you via AIM again about it, we can go over more ideas.

OFRs are made by Schaller are they not? If so, they probably know how to make a pretty solid copy . I'd probably go with the Schaller floyd and the 14quot; radius. Don't forget you're going with a 12quot; radius on you Carvin, so you'll have that base covered so to speak.

and my nighthawk is 12quot; too.

OFRs only come in one radius size and that's 10quot;. However, if you wanted a super flat radius. You can do some saddle swapping and grab an Ibanez nut and get a 16quot; radius. It takes some work, but it is possible.

If you don't use a the bar that much, there is no sense in driving your parts cost up that much. You can get a wilky for 1/2 the cost of a Floyd.

I'm a Floyd guy myself, but I hate seeing people wasting there money on stuff like that, especially if it doesn't suit them

OH BTW...The new Gotoh Licensed Floyds are killer and are very comparable to an OFR.

update: got a floyd equipped axe for about a week to use. Now I remember why I got rid of my Ibanez, it's not for me. I don't do any extreme stuff. Any trem stuff I do I can do on a wilkinson just fine.

Wilkinson it is. One down!

Haha, I had a funny feeling you'd go that way.

Another thing to consider is the 6 post wilkinson. It has less travel still than the two post, but it's extremely smooth and nice to use. I tried one on a JJ guitar (british make) and was seriously impressed. With locking tuners as well it stayed in tune really well, and infact didn't go out at all while I was using it. It's like an uber strat bridge trem, built really nicely too IMO. Felt good

I'm talking about this one

from : localhost/piece of kit IMO

1 11/16quot; decided.

2 down!!

basswood/maple, you said you love it. so if you love it why not get it on a custom-from-parts guitar?

EDIT: 1000th POST!!!!!!WOHOOOOOO!!!(sorry x, i had to put it in the actual post)

12quot; radius

3 down!!

You already have mahogany guitars, I dunno about that Gibbo for sure I'm not familiar with it but I remember the Carvin being mahogany.

Go basswood with a maple cap for a different tone

I may just do that.
