Can CC do metal?

After listening to WFD's tone, you'd be a fool not to say it can handle metal.

seeing as the CC is listed under pickups used by dave mustaine on the duncan artist database, id say yes

Both Guitarists in Sevendust use the CC, and that's some pretty heavy metal there.

Without a doubt. Very nice articulation and growling tone... the bass is 'just right' too.

it sure can i have one in a strat i got from TC and it does metal pretty damn well IMO!! nice and chunky!

Hell yeah it can. Talking from experience here.

No.I just wanted to be different. The CC can get great metal tones. I love the JB, but I'm glad I went with the CC for my Peavey.

the dude in DROWNING POOL uses one and gets a heavy ass tone so YEAH the CC does metal

just listen to WFD

I used to have one in my strat before I sold mine to Theodie. It can do metal, but I use so much distortion that any Duncan humbucker I could use for metal.

Nah, it was more glam when he played with Poison.

J/K. It should work out great IMO.

Sh!t, CC can hardly even do guitar, let alone metal.

My two favorite bridge humbuckers are CC and C-5, and both are versatile enough to do metal, but also sound great on clean and midgain, unlike many pickups specifically marketed toward metal players. If you notice, a lot of metal players with the best tones are using medium output pickups, not superhot ones with menacing names, specifically targeted toward kids. They learned long ago that a CC or Custom sounds better than an Invader, Super Distortion or DD.

Nice one TC!!! hahaha

you mind if I call you TC Deville? hahaha

Who are the medium-output players? I'm not disagreeing, just looking for an example.

BTW, the Customs (all 3) are still pretty hot...

I would say that most humbuckers would go great with metal, if you run it through the right preamp(s).

I know that a '59b through a booster pedal and cranked high-gain tube amp sounds evil...

Absolutly! Given, any pickup, provided there's enough amp distortion, can do metal, but the voicing and eq of the CC really make it a pickup suitable for a lot of things, metal being one of them.

Metal has a fairly wide scope. If you are talking about quot;kick you in the teethquot;, mids inspired metal, sure can. But, there are better choices if you are looking for reduced mids.

If you want to cut or be heard, the CC is for you.
