I have my ts808 that's going into my Bluesbreaker Combo. Need some more dirt... I know I could get it by cranking the Bluesbreaker and the use additional dirt from the ts808. But when I'm not able to crank it and still want to play a harder rock, think Guns n' Roses or Aerosmith(honkin on a bobo). That's the absolute top need of dist for, nothing more high gain than that.
Which one do you recommend...Yes, I know the BB-2 is a overdrive, though from the clips I've heard it seems to have fair amount of gain, at least combined with my ts808. Do you think that i'd get enough gain for my needs this way (I'd get a booster function as well from the BB-2) or should I go the Guv'nor Plus route instead?Bluesbreaker IIGuv'nor Plus
I know there are better out there like the Tonebones (said to be a Marshally dist) but I don't want to spend that amount of money right now so.
I'm going on a trip to Denmark tomorrow so you'd better answer me fast guys! Otherwise I won't be able to read it since I won't check the SD Forums during my stay there :/
Hey man, have you looked into the SD pup booster? It has 6-25dB boost of pure gain. I use mine in conjunction with a boss SD-1. It's a completely clean boost so it can be used to drive your TS-808 harder, or your amp, depending where you put it in your signal chain. It's also got a resonance switch for single coils.
Also the boss SD-1 for less dirt and more of a boost. It was designed to keep marshalls sounding like marshalls some say.
The Blues Driver also does a good job and picks up where the SD-1 leaves off gain-wise.
Haven't tried any of the Marshall Pedals.
Hope that helps man.
Luke
Thanks Luke for your quick answer... Yes, I've looked into the SD Pup Booster, and was quite interested in it since it seems to get alot of very good reviews and oppinions everywhere. But how about playing at low volume... eg. at home. Will it do the job for me then also?
I suppose that if I put it like this guitar-gt;wah-gt;ts-808-gt;SD Pup Booster-gt;Bluesbreaker Combo. Then it boosts the amp and since the amp haven't got a master volume then it needs to get up to a pretty high level to start adding gain (just like cranking the amp by it by itself) am I right or not?
But if I put it in front of the ts-808, like this: guitar-gt;wah-gt;SD Pup Booster-gt;ts-808-gt;Bluesbreaker Combo. Then things would act differently, right? Would the latter mentioned setup boost the ts808 and push out more gain even at low volumes?
