$600~1100

What are some LIFE TIME KEEPERS?
oh i mean i have 1100 dollars i can spend.

Are you asking for different models? What kind of specs do you want?

I really enjoy the Fender American Standard strat.... I like that bridge and the narrower string spacing, love the 22 fret neck, love the neck shape, the pickups are good..... The American Standard is not what Vintage strat guys like but i enjoy these modern versions....

i can highly reccomend the second one in this post

Highway 1?

Well, I'm not sure if 22 frets is necessary... Is it? For those who have American Series Strats, do you use the 22nd fret frequently? and is there a tone difference between 21-fret strats and 22-fret strats?

I'd like a stratocaster model with either S-S-S or S-S-H. I'd like to go with S-S-S, though.

I want maple neck and alder body.

I'm not sure which bridge models are good on strats and such...

Oh and I'd like the olympic-white color. =) it's killer.

Any suggestions?

Jimmy Vaughn?

save a little more for an Eric Johnson Strat

If you're willing to look outside fender, see if you can find an old Levinson Blade (before the headstock was changed). I bought one off a local musician after watching his gigs for a year... amazing tone.

The build quality is spectacular.
1 piece body. The wood grain on the back follows the quot;tummy contourquot; perfectly, but is still vertical on the front and the rest of the back. I doubt that happened by accident... doesn't make a difference but it lets me know that some personal effort was put into my guitar.

It sounds and plays great... Comes with an active mid boost circuit. However, the neck is thinner than most strats, but i'm fine with that.

To me, this is my lifetime keeper.

strats are very individual instruments ... I think you need to look at 20 or more to find one you like

American strats are a good basic value - I like them not just because of the 22 frets, but because the frets and neck radius are more comfortable to play than vintage specs

I tend to like lighter strats, and they're not always easy to find - that's part of what led me to build my own from parts

I haven't found one yet in that price range (irregardless of my inability to get used to a strat bridge). I loved my Blue American...loved my Blue american Deluxe Strat Plus i had back in 93/94..but the Malmsteen to me is the only one I've had that had the real deal strat vibe. It felt like a vintage strat...but it's about $300 more than your limit.

I'd prolly try and find a good used 62 RI or something, personally.

Should I go for a Jimmie Vaughan an Amp or Pod xt live?

or American Series strat?

Fender HM Strat. Gotta buy it used, but It's worth it!
