Today I'm getting to get my first cabinet. It's a marshall 1936 2x12quot; cab. The infomation on it can be found here from : localhost/ I just want to know how to use as this is my first experience with using one.
I think you just connect the output from a amp with a cable, the same kind I use to connect my guitar to my amp, to the cabinet. Is this correct or do I need a different kind of cable?
I have a combo amp, it has a output to cabinet, but it says 8 ohm min., I was wondering what that means and how do I connect it to my new cabinet.
DO NOT use a quot;guitarquot; cable to connect the amp to the cab. Use a quot;speakerquot; cable with a guage/size of 16 or less. The ends might be the same but the wiring is different. Speaker cables have wiring like quot;lamp cord.quot; Guitar cables have a braided shield of wire that covers the center (hot) wire to quot;shieldquot; out electromagnetic interfearence because the electrical signal generated by the pickups is VERY small.
The 8 ohms min. spec means the amp wants to see at least an 8 ohm load so don't connect a cabinet with a rating of less than 8 ohms.
learing about ohms and impeadence is important...do a search here and you'll find lots a posts pertaining to the subject.
Thanks for the info. Do you recommend any speaker cables?
What happens if you use a regular guitar cable?

Are you sure you can't just use a instrument cable, I assume as a guitar cable? I called my local guitar shop and they said I could use my guitar cable to connect my amp to my cabinet. I tried it out and it worked fine.
I have one more question I plan to get marshall head to go with my cabinet that has 2 outputs to speakers for it. My marshall 1936 cabinet has one 2 inputs a left and right, but there is no switch for stereo. How would I set it up so both speakers work at the same time?
