I have some Harmonic Design single coils and love them but I am curious about the humbuckers. Has anyone here tried them? Can you compare them with a Duncan 59 or PAF? Thanks. - Rob
I like 'em. To me they have a very refined sort of jazz rock tone that reminds me of something a player like Larry Carlton would appreciate. I had a set in one of my Hamers for about a year. Sold the Hamer but kept the HD humbuckers. Don't have anything to put 'em in unfortunately. But I like them enough that I'll hang onto them until I do. Lew
Thanks Lew!-= Rob
Thanks! Another nice thing about the HD's is that the bridge pickup has slightly wider polepiece spacing than the neck. So the polepieces are perfectly centered under the strings. They tied for first place in a pickup shoot out in Vintage Guitar magazine a few years ago and that's why I bought a set. I don't know that they are quot;betterquot; than Antiquitys and others, and I wouldn't say that they are better than the Duncans (Seth and CC) in my Hamer Monoco, but they are excellant pickups. I bought the HD's thinking I'd use them in my Monoco but after I put the Seth Lover in that guitar and tested it against several wonderful Les Pauls and it blew them all away, I have no plans to ever change the Duncans in my Monoco.
