I always wire my double humbucking guitars out of phase so the middle position gives me the thinner, squawkier tone for variety purposes. I do that by switching the green and black wires on one of the pickups. How can I can do this with two 2-conductor wire humbuckers? Can I simply reverse ground and hot wires on one of them? I know about reversing magnets but both are covered and do no want to go thorugh the hassle of removing the covers if I don't have to.
You'll make the cover hot and it'll buzz everytime you touch it if you make the shield hot. I think you'll need to remove the cover and reverse the magnet in one pickup if you want to have your covered single conductor humbuckers out of phase when combined.
