No clue where this problem comes from, but here are the facts:

When I play my Jag into my AD30VT, and am doing one of the following: 1.)palm muting clean 2.)playing softly 3.)allowing a clean chord to sustain

I get a really wierd, growling, almost clicking noise that's fairly soft, and very annoying.

I'd record it but wouldn't know how to host an audio file.

Possibly interference? but why only under those circumstances? No problem with any other single coil guitars... or any of my other guitars.

Maybe just a frequency my amp doesn't like?

suggestions? I don't think it's the trem springs or the strings behind the bridge, when I mute those I still hear it.

Can you plug your amp into an extension cab?

don't have an extension cab, and wouldn't know how to do that if I did.

Do you have a headphone jack or a direct out?

If so, does it also do it through headphones?

Is there a noise gate cutting in and out?

one of my first thoughts was it must be the cabinet vibrating, or at least the metal grating... I don't have headphones but I'll see if I can't get a pair and see if it's not that.

There is a noise reduction feature on the amp, but I don't use pedals... I'll try messing around with that and report back

thanks Jonesy! turning down the noise filter seems to have gotten rid off it somehow. Even though the thing has to be up halfway at least for me to get any amount of gain without squealing, even with my paul
