Hey dudes. I have a Gibson Les Paul Junior on the way. I'm not if Gibson will have it outfitted with decent caps for volume and tone. What do you guys recommend for getting the most out of a single P-90. I'd like to preserve a good amount of treble when I turn the volume down, but I want that big fat classic grind when it's turned up.
Wait until you get it and then decide but the electronics in it will be fine. No need to run out and replace them.
There's plenty of people that do go out and change them right away, but I'd agree with Erik and play it for a bit. If it's not doing what you'd like, I'd look into a 500k audio pot if there's not one in there already. (I think those come with the 300 vol and 500 linear tone.
It will do that big fat grind stock.
Yeah, I figured it would do the big fat grind, but I didn't know how well it would clean up with the volume turned down. Does it get muddy or does it preserve some of the chime? By the way, what is the resistance of the average Gibson bridge position P-90? I'm guessing around 9k?
