Tell me everything you know~!
here's another post I made about them
I really am loving them. I had one custom wound (@UGD) for my bridge, It's slightly overwound with a twangbanger bottom plate. It sounds a lot like the Hot tele bridge, but a little smoother with the A2 magnets. After I put that one in, I went on ebay right away and got the next Classic Stack, I saw, for my middle pickup. I never use the middle pickup by itself, but when combined with either my bridge pickup, or the neck, it has a really cool glassy character along with the quack. Excellent for old Mark Knopfler strat sounds, or funky Chili Peppers clean stuff.
I have one in my strat neck position. I like it for cleans and i finally got it to sing the other day. I put my deltablues 30 watt on 10, (blissful tone, btw) mildly overdriven by the el84s and no hum. I can't really compare it to a true single coil because it have been years since I have used them.
I have classic stacks in neck and middle of my Jackson DK2. I have a JB in the bridge.
EQ suits JB quite well, but they're a bit weak compared to JB. They also miss quot;somethingquot;. I'd like them a bit more transparent and glassy, maybe a bit more highs as well. They're nice pickups, but not perfect, like the JB. I'll probably get replacements in the future.
I don't have that much experience in different pickups, sorry.
Hmmm, thanks, guys~!!! I might just opt for DiMarzio VirtuAl pups then. They are Alnico 2 and designed for light strings and high-gain. I just like my tone to be something similar to Yngwie's, but with a dash of Paul Gilbert. The search continues!
Absolutely great for clean jazzy to bluesy tones. Sounds very classic rockish when distorted. Its not quite high enough output for me so I'm leaving my middle stack in and replacing my neck stack.
