Hi!

My father has the intention of building a new guitar. He would like to fit a Bigsby tremolo on it but we don't particulary know why some have a tension bar (B7 model) and some other doesn't (B3 model).

Can anybody tell what is the tension bar for?

Thanks!!

To put it more clear this are the models

B3

B7The tension bar only decreases the bridge break-over angle. The tension bar is on the shorter models primarily, if memory serves.

Bigsby's are great tailpieces, with a little love and care....and of course a proper set up, they will stay in tune fabulously.

Thanks Luke Duke... It seems that it's a matter of a personal taste.

Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuump!!!!!

I know that all the 335 based models with bigsbys have the tension bar. I might also have something to do with whether or not you use a TOM, or the bigsgy compensated bridge. How did I come up with that? I pulled it out of my ARSE!! No really though the Gretches generally do NOT have the bar but they also use the bigsby bridge. That's the only correlation I could come up with.

Luke

ahahahahahaaaaa

I guess I should look more into the production line models that come with Bigsbys...

Thanks for you thoughts!!!!

No problem man!
