I have spoken to the seller and pointed out to him that Humbuckers weren't invented until 1957 or so and the Duncan the company didn't exist until the 70's. Which he simply says thats what the guy who sold it to him told him. He clearly hasn't hasn't changed the ad.

I further pointed out to himn that the tag on the bottom clearly ID's it as a trembucker 59, not a Pearly Gates. I haven't gotten a response to that.

When Evan sees these, he usually has them pulled. As an alternative, bid $500. You won't be outbid, and you can back out officially, because its an obvious fraud.

Should I have not bid?

i'd buy it if i wanted a '59 trembucker - think how many people are gonna be scared off that guy now, you'd get a stupid low price if he dosent update the ad...

Possibly quite a few. I hear that Seymours quality wasn't so consistent when he was 4 years old.

Hard to say. Thats about how you would cut one for a strat install.

Its just amazing how stuborn this guy is. The guy who sold it to him must have been named Peter cause this guy thinks its Gospel truth. I even gave him a link to Duncan's site so he could look it up himself if he didn't believe me. :dammit:

Seriously though, if you look at the bid history, I'll bet you dollars to doughnuts that all those bidders understand exactly what it is, and are trying to snag a TB59 cheap. I might even bid myself.

No harm really.

I sent him an email telling him that his info is incorrect. and saying pretty much everything you said but said humbuckers were invited in 55 and it was a tremspaced humbucker.

He ended it due to quot;an error in the listing.quot; Thats cool.

He's selling parts of a strat too. Probably came out of the bridge of it lol.

ask him if he's including the original battery

lol, good one

I don't really see any big deal with the new listing, he probably just misinterpreted the quot; '59quot; he probably saw in the emails he got.

EDIT: Let me clarify . I don't necessarily think he means to imply this is a pickup made in 1959, just that he probably doesn't know the actual proper name is just quot; '59quot;, not quot;1959quot;.

I agree. I'm not gonna bust his chops over that. He did the right thing and changed the listing. Thats close enough. Not everyone is as hardcore about gear as we are. Even if I think they should be. If the pricing stays right I may try to buy it myself.

Yup . . . you're probably right. And that fact went right over my head.
