A little background information...

I have a 335 with a Seth Lover in the Bridge and a Dimarzio PAF in the neck. I have the chance to get another Seth Lover for next to nothing to replace the Dimarzio. Unfortunatly, it's another SH-55B made for the Bridge position.

I know it will probably be a little hotter than the neck version but will it sound bad, decent or almost as good as the neck version?

Thanks for your input!

Well, back in the 50's, PAF's weren't calibrated for neck or bridge positions. I bet it'll sound great. What I would do would be to take my trusty, rusty multimeter and measure the resistance of the pickups. The one with the lowest resistance would go in the neck slot. Then, I would mess with pickup and polepice height to balance the neck and bridge positions properly.

To me it would be a little too hot for the neck position, at least if you want a really clear mountain-stream tone from your neck pu. If you want meatier tone with more break-up from the neck, it's probably fine though you might then want something a little hotter in the bridge. But if it's a nearly free pickup, definitely grab it. At worst you end up selling it for a profit.

Thanks for the reply guys!

I installed the pickup last night, ajusted the pole pieces and it sounds marvelous.

It's a little brighter than what I'm used to, but it's nothing the tone control can't fix. 2 thumbs way up.

Glad to hear it!
