Hi everyone. I was thinking of getting a JB humbucker for my guitar. The old tone chart used to show the JB as having slightly scooped mids, something like Bass 6, Mids 5, Treble 8. Now, the new tone chart shows it as Bass 5, Mids 6, Treble 8...more mids than bass. Does anyone know which one is correct?

Probably the second one, its not a very bassy pickup at all really.

See the second one is correct in the sence that there's a huge treble mid-spike, that makes it sound like it has a higher treble factor then it does. Not to mention there's not alot of bass, rather its a very tight bass

I always felt that a tone chart with separate low mid/high mid eq would give a much more accurate description of a pickup.......most pickups are different due to the different qualities in the mid frequencies content......

The tone chart is a very rough guide. It's subjective and it doesn't account for the effect of the wood. YMMV.

Use the Soundbytes page. It's more objective than the Tone Chart.
