Maybe just a power amp? Since the POD is already a preamp...

and if you go solid state make sure your getting a really CLEAN power amp. Not all SS power amps are made equal!
I use a powered JBL EON with a 15 and a horn...works great. Definately no guitar amps or cabs.
for the cab i had can u suggest a power amp that would be good and clean that wouldnt blow my cab
I would look into a good PA power amp like crown, Carvin etc.... just make sure it's close to the same wattage and ohms your cab is running.

Yep. I used to have a PODxt Pro in a rack setup and used a Peavey solid state power amp. 120 watts per side stereo @ 8 ohms, worked like a charm.
I'd also just go with a rack mounted power amp, maybe a QSC 1810, which puts out about 50 watts/side at 8 ohms. That'll power up to two 412 cabs efficiently.

The only way the POD sounds good through an electric guitar amp and cabinet is if you turn off the amp/cab sims. Then it becomes a high priced effects unit.
Keyboard and bass combos work best (after a PA, of course).

A keyboard amp is pretty much just a self-contained PA. If you already have a cab, go find a good clean PA power amp. Same thing.
The Crate powerblock seems to work GREAT for that purpose. Or Atomic amps.
Well, if you don't have the cab yet, go for a real PA. A separate amplifier and cabinets or an active cabinet maybe one extra passive for stereo effect. That's what I'd do.
If you already have the Marshall, buy some good quality tube poweramp, like Mesa 50:50 or VHT 2:50. Then, when you decide you've had enough of the pod, you can just buy a nice preamp.
Try Atomic Amps
definitely go Atomic...they're CREATE expressly for modelers..
The Atomic Reacter is the greatest idea ever
A buddy of mine got a Behringer V-Amp...and plugged it into a Peavey Classic 120 Power Amp ....all tube power amp with one of those modelers actually producers a pretty greakin good tone! I was impressed...not gonna go out and buy a modeler or anything, but I was definitely impressed
I wouldn't mind an Atomic if I was gigging or playing somewhere loud... but for bedroom stuff, my SS Fender does nicely

Inexpensive, portable, amp; I'm hearing really good things about them.

See, this is EXACTLY why I need an Atomic. In my bedroom the PODxt goes through the studio monitors and sounds great. I need something big and loud for rehearsing and gigs (I know it's quot;onlyquot; 18 watts, but that is just right IMO).
I just called Lamp;M. They had four of them in the store a couple weeks ago, and they all sold within two days . I have my name on one of the 1x12's that is on order, and they're supposed to call me when it comes in. If and when that happens, I will be sure to post a review here.
Gooooooood stuff. Let us know how it sounds....
