So, how does a noise gate work? Do they change the tone of a guitar much? Can you recomend a good one?
Thanks
.
A noise gate attentuates the signal of the guitar when your not playing, so the buzz/hum/wahtever isn't as evident. A suppressor takes out all of thee sound below a certain threshold. The one of my G-major is readiculously awesome, but I also have a NS-2 that gets the job done.
Thanks for the info!
So will a noise gate kill sustain? Also, what are some other good brands besides Boss?
ISP Decimator have been getting a lot of attention....

Where would you buy one of those?
Do you want a noise gate (which cuts out the signal when it drops below a certain level) or noise reduction (which will clean up the signal)?

That's what I'm wondering. I have a C-5 that has a humming/noisy sound to it. So, I think something that would remove this sound (a 60-cycle hum also) would be ideal.
.
a good noise gate wont drop sustain at least not till it gets to the level of ur hum i heard bad noise gates click when sound begins and ends because its sudden and better 1s graduate and fade more
