How those tube comparing ? I've read that the JJ is a el34 with more power ( headroom ) and beefier bottom end and the 6CA7 is a el34 witch tend toward a 6L6 , so they could very similar .
Somebody could tell the differences ?
thanks
I love the JJs and they are the only Els I use. That's me though
I compared the JJ E34L with EH EL34 in a self-built class A amp and I personally liked the EH more. To me it had a nicer distortion and didn't sound as harsh as the JJ.

This help a lot as i don't want harsh highs , my guitar is bright enough , and as regard lows , power and headroom witch one wins ?
unfortunately I took out the octet-socket from the circuit - the EL34 just wanted too much current from my small trannie
All I remember is that I really liked the EH over the JJ soundwise. I had problems with harsh sounds (overdriven) in that amp and tried a number of things to get that out. JJ 12AX7 and the EH EL34 helped me there.
The E34L (JJ) can be driven with more power than a normal EL34 (at least JJ says that). About headroom and lows I can't tell you much anymore...
Maybe I can solder the socket back in on sunday and can give you more detailed information here...
I tried the JJ-E34L and the EH 6CA7 in a JCM 800, and I think I liked the EH's better in that amp.
I've used both the JJ EL34L and EH 6CA7s in my Rivera. The EL34s are very strong representatives of the type, providing the sort of crunch one generally expects from that tube type. The EH 6CA7s are smoother when running distortion and offer more chime and clean volume.
Since my current projects place a premium on clean tones and smooth tones, I run 6CA7s.
Thanks for your contributions guys , i will try the EH 6CA7;it seems and excellent compromise between EL 34 and 6L6 .
