Totally blown away that you can buy a guitar of this quality for $500!

I stopped at the brand new local Guitar Center in Northridge, Ca., and stumbled on PRS's new Korean made SE Custom Flametop. I'm not in the market for a guitar, but I have to recommend it highly if anyone is looking for a great guitar on the cheap. It's got a tremolo, and basically looks like a flat top McCarty, with a trem, 2 zebras, 22frets, and a decent flametop. It looks and sounds nearly identical to a $2000 guitar.......I've had 5 PRS's so I'm a hard sell, but it's that good. If I were to nitpick, I'd say that it needs a better setup, and the flames weren't quite as bookmatched as it's US counterpart, but holy crap...$500!!!!

That it? Looks like sweet stuff fo sho...

it's a functional guitar amp; a testimony to a great Korean craftsmanship...

Im digging this one too...

That first one is the one I saw at GC, only it had a trem. These things are SOOOO worth the money! I'm digging that second one even more, because of the P-90's. That flametop one's only $50 more than the plain looking all mahogany one, which everyone considers a bargain at $450.

Yea, im thinking the top looks nicer too, but maybe you can't be sure?

I'd definetely go for that one... might start considering it... hmmmm... aw crap I have GAS....

oooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhh if i can get a trans black with a wraparound vs the trem count me in!!

i just realized the regular standard SE comes in flat black...now that's sweet too!

According to the PRS site, you can get it with either bridge for both finishes. I like that wrap around bridge too!

oh yes you can....

oh great another guitar on the list of guitars to buy LOL...thanks a bunch GJ hahaha

Hmmmmm. PRS GAS I could afford.

i saw one of those on ebay a couple of weeks ago. if i could get the transblack w/ P-90s..ooooh laaalaaa

I was wondering if PRS was going to come out with any new Korean models and I must say, that definatley looks tempting. I have the SE Soapbar II and since I installed Jason Lollars P90's it is fast becoming my favorite guitar. Even over my LP.

I have a feeling that this is gonna be the year for PRS.....2006.....twenty years later, they're hitting their stride! After the new year, they'll unleash a boatload of US and Korean Singlecuts that poke Gibson in the eye, but on top of that, their regular body shape will dominate the lower and high end market.

If they crank out killer guitars like these for $500, Gibson, Schecter, and Epiphone are in trouble!

We're not seeing them yet, but I have a feeling they're getting ready to come out with SE Singlecut Flametops. If those are like a US Singlecut, with a flat top, with all the same options, PRS is going to blow up bigtime.

I remember Paul Reed Smith making the statement that he never wanted to sell out by making import models, but I think he's realized that his company can be a powerhouse if he goes that route. There's no $500 guitar that can compete with these. If you buy one, and put a $25 pro setup on it, it's not too far from a $1500 guitar, in quality.

Could'nt agree with you more, GJ. I have yet to find the right HH equipt guitar and since owning the SE II I'd be very interested in checking out some of the newer Korean humbucking equipt SE's, be it a flametop or a singlecut if they happen to make one. I love my SE II. With better pickups it's a monster guitar for the price.

Thanks... now I'm probably going to have to buy that P90 one. My wallet and I thank you.

The SE Custom is a flat-top????

I love my SE and its a guitar I will not part with!!! I would honestly say that they are the BEST bang for the buck period!!! The factory pickups are really nice sounding in them also!!!
