You buy a guitar, get it home and realize that you hate and it you bring it back almost immediately. Which guitar has been in your possession the shortest amount of time and why?

For me it was a 2005 MIM Fender Strat SSS. I wanted a decent inexpensive but not too cheap backup guitar. I tried all the ones they had, found one that didn't have frets sticking out over the edges (WTF?!!? there were a lot of them) and seemed to be built well.

Got it home and realized what a piece of garbage it was. No shielding, sounded horrible, the tiny frets sucked, any of the singles were like HUMMMMMMMM!!!!!! really bad. I'm no stranger to single coils either but these are the worst I've heard. It's not like ordinary 60's cycle hum which is tolerable. It was like a nest of bees that you just pissed on.

I bought the guitar because a friend of mine bought a MIM fender standard strat around 99'-00' and it's a GREAT guitar, solid, feels and sounds great. They are definately doing something different now because they are not even worth the $350 they ask for them. Junk. I took it back the next day.

My ibanez RG450LTD, got rid of it the next day after purhase.
The neck was too thin and the Edge Pro (Either II or III) couldnt stay intune, and the pickups sounded like crap and it was in some near pinkish colour .

Up to today, i couldnt understand why i bought it in the first place.

When I was a young kid into metal guitars, I bought a BC Rich Stealth, thinking it looked cool. As soon as I got it home and put a strap on it, I realized it was a terrible design because it was extremely 'neck heavy.' As soon as you'd let go of the neck, it's fall towards the floor. Exchanged it the next day for a used Carvin DC 400. I must have been about 14 or 15 years old.

For me, it was a Ric 360/12. It was the old story: The fingerboard was simply too narrow for cleanly fingering too many chords, especially open voiced ones which on a 12 string, can be some of the most critical. I unloaded it fast, got a Burns Double-Six instead and never looked back.

I purchased a blonde Gibson 335 from an online guitar store. During the trip it got a tan...the duffers had sent me out a sunburst. That one went straight back in the post, and was cash refunded… “we don’t have any blondes in stock.”

Mine was not a return...when I was much younger I saved for quite a long time so I could buy a good amp...the day I bought my Twin reverb I also bought a very late 50's, or 60 Gibson Melody Maker...the poor guitar had seen a tough life. It had a set of grovers on it, a dog ear P-90 in the bridge (from a 58 LP Jr!) and a mini bucker in the neck ( from an old LP Deluxe) as well as a Leo Quann Bad ass tailpiece...it looked like hell but sounded amazing and played like a dream...On the way out of the store I was offered $100.00 more that I paid for it so I sold it, I have been kicking my own ass for it ever since.

I squier strat I got for Christmas. When I started to tune it I relized the end of one of the tuning keys had been broken off. I returned it the next day for for another squier strat.

Not a return, but I found a Peavey T-60 on the side of the road....YEs the side of the road! I was stupid and decided that I didnt like it...i traded it for a freaking Ibanez GAX70...WHAT A DUMB**** I AM!

BEEN THERE,DONE THAT!
I had always wanted a 360/12 since I was a kid, when I got older, and had more money than brains, I got one. What an overengineered, complicated, and unplayable piece of junk. I was so dissapointed! they don't come with the vintage pickups, or a 12 saddle bridge. (Both of which Rickenbacker is more than happy to sell you as an option.) But it was a beautiful piece of wood.

Haha, that kicks ass

My friend's dad found an aria that smelled like pot on the side of the road (acoustic)...hehe

Ibanez 7 string. I think it was probably a RG7620. I bought it on September 11th (yes, that September 11th) when i was in a bit of a haze.

I played it at rehearsal that night and wrote a killer riff on it.

Thge next day I had the day off from work (worked on a military base....no one unneccesary was working) and I returned it.

It just didn't have the sound and tone I was looking for and was way too much money. But it did get me playing 7 strings.

I've never returned a guitar or amp.

I returned a Rockman headphone amp for a TubeScreamer, though. There was something wrong with the Rockman, and I just decided to get something else.
