Okay, so I sold my R7 to a lurker here on the forum... (S.C. you are welcome to join us anytime)

The guitar made it all the way to Australia, no problems or anything. I think it might be the one and only R7 Refin in country. You Aussies need more quality Gibsons down there.....

(I only post these comments because he's so happy. Had he been ticked, I'd probably not be saying anything! )

Hi Scott,
just letting you know that the guitar arrived today in good order.

It is terrific and exceeded my expectations. There were 2 things i was
surprised at - the offset seam is a lot more subtle in real life than in
photo's, doesn't detract at all from the look of the guitar and in fact adds
interest since even les paul standards all come with bold flame tops these
days. The second thing was the neck - must admit to being worried about the
so-called quot;baseball batquot; neck but to me it is just perfect - fits my hand
and playing style better than any neck before it.

Thanks again for agreeing to sell quot;down underquot; , it has been a pleasure
doing business with you.

Cheers
S.C.

way to go.
even though im more of a strat type of guy im glad more high quality gibsons are getting into the hands of more people in more places

you mean...people live in australia?

That takes some cajones to ship a guitar, let alone an R7, that far. Anyways, I hope he enjoys it.

Hell, forget shipping to Australia - I got burned just trying to ship to Canada! Glad it all worked out.

I loved the quot;Brockburstquot; on that R7 'Fin, Scott, so I'm sure the buyer will love it.

I have fairly small hands, but I have no problem with my Goldtop R7. I've had a few discussions about the quot;perfectquot; neck with Tommy at USA Custom Guitars, and I agree with him ... I've gotten used to larger necks over time, and prefer them now.
there's a lot of players who say that a large neck adds to the tone ... I don't know, but they just feel more substantive.

enjoy that refin!

Fed Ex Air 4-5 days service ran something like 275 bucks or so. Even with import duties and the shipping, it was still a steal for him...

Fed Ex rocks. No reason to ever use UPS. (pronounced Oops!)

And, i'm probably going to miss it one day, but this new camera is just a killer.

spreading the tonal word, one country and one guitar at a time

where's grandor gotten to? he used to import US-Australia a lot.. anyone seen him?

tom

Great post Scott. I would love for my 57' RI to go to a forum member. I just had a bidder who backed out on paying me. At least he is good enough to reimburse me for the listing and BIN fees, but it's still a pain.

Great to hear all went well Scott Doesn't it feel good to do a good shipping job? I just received a really nice e-mail from the guy I sent my Grosh Bent Top Custom to and it's the biggest relief when a high priced item arrives safely. Wish I could say the same for some of my gear (the Fargen and Tele Sonic), but atleast those are getting worked out as we speak

Hi there all. This is my first post but have been a lurker for sometime. I am the lucky individual who has taken over the care of the lovely R7 Refin mentioned above!

It is a terrific guitar and was even better than i expected. The quot;Brockburstquot; finish is easily my favourite Les Paul colour - photo's don't really do justice to the warmth of the colour (excuse australian spelling) I didn't know that it existed as an official colour until very recently and can't imagine there are too many nicer colours out there. Warmer than the cherry sunburst finishes and nicer looking to me than the faded sunburst type finishes.

Most importantly it has a wonderful tone and great playability with a moderately large neck. Awesome.

Would like to say thanks to Scott for what turned out to be an excellent transaction - not always easy to find sellers willing to sell internationally Just typing all this has given me the urge to go play the thing. Back soon!
