Except for the added range and tuning stability of the Wilkinson trem, are there any differences with the Schaller-Fender trems on American Standard Strats?
I'm gonna get me a wilkinson on Sunday.
Thanks for the replies!
Bump (not sure if this is allowed here -- mods?)
Wilkinson licenses several types of strat tremelo bridges. Are you getting one because of the saddles or because of the tremelo action?
Are there any similarities other than that they´re both trems and have 2 knife edges? J/K... What exactly are you looking for? Measurements that may cause problems in retrofitting or tone advice or... I assume you mean the VS-100 and not the VS-50?
I vote for schaller bridge
Iv got a single hum reverse Jackson with a Wilk, and wouldent trade it for the world.
It's a Gotoh Wilkinson (from what I've read, this are the same exact trems Wilkinson USA used to manufacture)... and yeah, I think it's the VS100 (two pegs, NOT 6).
I'm getting one primarily for tuning stability. (I won't dive bomb on it, but will you is frequently). The added range is a bonus.
I'm also hoping that the Wilkinson will improve tone and sustain?
Btw, I just bought the Gotoh Wilkinson about an hour ago. But I'm still waiting for a graphite nut before I install it.
After doing some more info search on the net, I'm not sure anymore if that's the VS100 or VS50. But for reference, my Gotoh-Wilkinson looks exactly like the VS50 on MightyMite's catalogue.
