Will someone educate me about Ibanez's? I have never owned one and do not really know much about them. (countries of origin, etc).

I found a pretty nice MIJ RGxxx at a local pawn shop. I played it, and I liked it a bunch. I know people say quot;if it sounds good, who cares about where it was made, etcquot;, but I'm curious about it. I need to go back and take another look, but they asked $225 for guitar hard case. I wanna talk 'em down a bit. If you have any thoughts, let me know please.

Japan makes the highest quality production Ibanezes.

Good deal... i'd buy it.

I bought an RG550 for $225 in a pawn shop once and it was worth every penny. I played it for years.. I actually put Dimarzios in that one- a Tone Zone in the bridge and PAF in the neck. Nice combo.

Pretty much any MIJ RG you can find under $400 is a screamin' deal. I have 2 RG750's and they are amazing.

That being said, don't pay more than 300-350 for an RG470. They were made in Japan for a spell and are identified by the Lo-TRSII Trem. anything from RG5XX or higher is pure gold. Especially after '95 as they got the All Access Neck Joint or AANJ.

Visit to find all the catalogues scanned.

Jemsite.com is a good place for Ibanez info also.

And a final thought... Go Buy IT!!!!

i think i will

1, they tend to make the cheaper ones in Korea, and the higher spec ones in japan, my Japan made RG is of the higest quality, with no problems and no cosmetic issues at all, have a good look round it, and if its good condition you could get a very nice guitar for the cash.

Just go her home! Ibanez RG570, I believe a 1999? (Serial: F935114, can anyone confirm?)

When I played it the first time it had a trem bar, unfortunately I didnt realize it wasn't on it 3 days later (today, when I picked it up) I wonder if the pawn shop guys will **** around with me, or look for it and give it to me......Japan Ibanez are the best~! I really dig my SCA220. Hope you dig that new RG!

actually on the average, japanese guitars are higher quality than american ones.

If we're talking Gibson or Fender, japanese guitars blow them away.

other american builders on the other hand are top notch, Gamp;L, Ernie Ball, Parker, etc. etc.

Gibson and Fender just suck is all.

My Japanese Ibanez's only competition is a USA Jackson.

good to see the Edge vibrato in that Ibanez, if it's the TRS version, i'd say say you are better off with another guitar.

on the topic of Japanese made Ibanez guitars, it's good to know that the korean Ibanez units WEF 2003, have been top notch. i used to be a sceptic when it comes to korean ibanez guitars/ basses, but now i simply love them- own 2: SZ320 (comes with Duncan/ Ibanez pickups this 2005) amp; the RG321.

A 2nd hand mij ibanez rg in our country will cost you about $350-$400 depending on the condition. So i think it's a good deal. You need to replace those pu's though.

If you want premium guitars from asia, MIJ guitars is the way to go. They seem to get the best parts of the tree for the wood they use in making these guitars. Most of the time too, the set-up is great. Though you must also never ignore the korean and some of the chinese guitars(artcore for example) as they seem to be catching up with the quality of the MIJ guitars though they're lower speced.

Nice, and new pickups is a great upgrade for those ibanez ones if you could get some, IMO the RG's dont come alive untill they have some good pup's in them, then they scream!

I love Ibanez RGs, despite where they come from, how they're made, etc. I usually hate their pickups, but I was surprised to find out (on this very site) that Michael Amott used to use the stock pickups when he was in Carcass. That blew me away.

I have an RG550 that I don't plan on letting go. It's got a killer thin, fast maple neck, killer Edge tremolo, and a huge nick in the finish where my brother dropped it (oh well).

I love my RG too..just need to change the pups though.

Have fun with it!

No way!!! Only a RG3020 compares to a USA Jackson. I play both. I like both

got the trem arm, it was laying on the floor under the spot the axe was hanging on the wall in the shop....

i've never had a floyd rose before... should the trem arm just slide in the hole? should it click in?
