Hey everybody, I'm new around these parts, and I've got a bit of a question to ask.

Well, I'm in the middle of a move right now, and while I have my guitar on me, to properly take measurements and compare dimensions, I'd have to remove my pickup braces, and there isn't a single, solitary screwdriver in the house.

I realize that Phat Cats are said to be direct retrofits for MOST (that's the keyword, my friends... at least, when you're paranoid like me) guitars, but I've recently had some terrible experiences with replacing parts on my Epiphone, so I'm a little... quot;cautiousquot;, let's just say.

Anyway, thanks in advance, everybody.

welcome to the forum and yes, the phat cats will be right at home in your epi.

Hi and Welcome to the forum!

As Dani said, you will not have any problem fitting a Phat Cat in your Epiphone... should sound killer too!

If you have any questions about the size of the Cats, check out these dimensions against the size of the pickup route in your Epi.
Welcome to the Forum!

Only at SD will you find the VP on the forum. Cool huh?

Luke

Phat Cats will directly retrofit any humbucker-equipped guitar, no muss, no fuss, zero/zip/nada. They're designed precisely for that purpose.

And Phat-cats totally rock! I think you'll be very happy.

Phat Cats rule. Here's an Epi SG/ Phat Cat Bridge clip

Yo twoheadedboy-Thats a kick-@ss riff. Do you listen to Clutch?

Hey ho Newbie,

The word quot;mostquot; is used because it won't fit guitars loaded with single coil pickups (like strats and teles), of those with Floyd-Rose tremelo units (which have slightly wider spacings, and thus need bigger pickups). The Epi LP is neither, and I'm betting it'll sound pretty dashed good when they're in. Keep us updated with the results!

No man. Did it sound like Clutch? I thought it sounded like recent ZZ Top (rhythmeen era)

Just the first riff, though I can definitely hear the ZZ top influence. Cool Stuff.

well not any guitar. i have a usa made washburn with a pgn neck and phat cat bridge (sounds great by the way). i had to make the hole for the phat cat a little bigger cause the pup wouldnt fit. there used to be a 59b in there so the difference is just the cover. in 99% of bucker loaded guitars the phat cats fit with no modification. its just my luck that i own a guitar that they didnt fit in. i have personally installed a few phat cats into epis with no problem.

Well, I guess you guys have a good enough support forum. Many thanks for all of the responses. Originally Posted by JimbojsrHey ho Newbie,

Well, it's pretty nice to know it won't fit a Floyd Rose. I was considering giving it a shot in my Jackson DX10D (it was my first, but it actually plays nice), which has a Floyd Rose, as you may be able to guess.

My second guitar is another Jackson, and it's got seven strings, so I certainly couldn't put it in there. Coincidentally, I have some humbuckers on my seven string (DR7). I'm considering selling the guitar just because I don't use it much, but the pickups have excellent tone, particularly when clean. Shame I wouldn't be able to use 'em in any of my other guitars. I'm guessing they're HB-7's, so maybe I can find a set of HB-102s.

Anywho, I really appreciate the great response, so many thanks for that, everybody.

Grrrrrrroooooooooooooovy
