Good for 80's metal? my amp and guitar are listed below. I will get it in a 2x12 cab if I get it

When I first got my JCM 800 4212, I hated the G12t-75's, thought they were too harsh. I went to V30's and Eminence V12's. I finally noticed that in my quest to smooth my sound out, I had gone too far, and made it too smooth. I think they'll be great for 80's metal.

I switched back to the 75's and immediately loved the sound. Tight lows, crispy highs, but not brittle, and a nice midrange bark. They get ragged on a lot, but I've come to like them. I just bought a 1960A cab loaded with them. I'll likely take two of them out and mix them with the V30's. Should be a great match.

Can I see the website or something for the Wolfgang copy? I'd like to check it out.

It is a $129 carlo robelli. I got it at sam ash. They do not make them anymore, at least I cannot find them at sam ash or on their website. I painted it myself with a roll of masking tape and a $1 can of white spray paint. The guitar was black.

So those speakers will be great for 80's metal? A guy at Voodoo, who modded my marshall said they are they speaklers they use when they mod an amp. But it was not Trace I spoke to about it.

Yeah, they'll be great for 80's metal and rock. Jeff Seal also used them to voice the mods on my Marshall.

I guess I will look for a 2x12 loded with them. I may just buy the speaker and change it for the stock one. But things are rattling and it may be better if the speaker is not jarring the amp so much

Alot of guys love the 75 watters,I've never got along with them....I've pretty much been a V30 user in my Marshall cabs and I also love the G12H-30s,but they aren't rated to handle high wattages...

Like everything else Jeff, the cab and speakers have to match up with your amp,guitar,effects,etc..

Our ears change often and maybe I'd love the 75 watters at this time in my life also?

What matters most,is that you like what you hear coming out of your cab....

John

Personally, I like the G12T-75's. I love 80's metal and hair metal though.

I have them in my Laney.. they do sound a little quot;harsh, quot; but in a good way to me. I think its suited towards metal.

I think the Classic Rock,Blues guys like myself seem to favor the V30,Greenback 25 watters, and the G12H-30s....It's what we grew up listening to..

G12T-75's are the speaker of choice for 80's metal, if you ask me. The standard speaker of the Marshall 1960 cabs. THE cab for 80's metal. I've retrofitted my ADA 2X12's with G12T-75's and I love it. Tight bass, nice midrange bite....just turn the treble and presence down on the JCM 800, you'll be fine.

G12T-75 speakers are the greatest speakers ever invented, bar none. Nothing will ever be better.

How do you guys feel about mixing celestions together in a cab?

A freind of mine uses a G12-t75 with a Rocket 50 and it sounds pretty good. The only thing that I mentioned to him was that he might as well have used two t75's. He said he was trying to save some cash.

How do the G12T-75 compare to the G-12T100? Just curious because I have the 100s in a Fender 2x12 and I love 'em! Huge sound that's perfect for 80's metal.

thanks

I use G12T-75s in both my cabs,The ones in my $x12 sounds fantastic IMO, but only sounds much better than the ones in my 2x12 because they have not really been broken fully yet.I got the 4x12 second hand and it seemd to have gotten quiet a lot of use before i picked it up, so id safely assume they're pretty damn broken in..

The 2x12 when i bought it new a few months back sounded Very Harsh and Brittle and plain S**t.I put a Discman through my amp for about 8 or so hours one day at very high volumes and that Really helped , it sounds Much much better now, but still nowhere near where it could sounds as of yet..

Hope that helpsOh and to answer your question.I play alot of Van Halen and the like and have a wolfie also, and those speakers smoke for it.I play alot of blues and lighter stuff too and they're just as good..

How much louder is a 2x12 compared to a 1x12? I have never A/B'd that set up.

I have a cab that I mix 75s and V30s. I don't really dig the 75s by themselves, but I like them with the 30s.

1x12 or 2x12 How does the volume differ? Advantages of a 2x12?

Awesome!! I have a similar setup: a 4x12 with the 75's and a 2x12 with the V-30's. Blending them together kind of makes things sounds fuller in a way.
