i just got a peavey tele copy. i am planning to put a fender tele neck on it. will it fit or will i have to modify either the neck or body to accept one another? i would rather do as little work as possible to it. if it's gonna take alot of work to get it right i may just get warmoth to make me a neck ready to fit. i would really like to know before i end up shellin out cash on a fender neck.

Hey, sorry i didn't see this earilier.... OK my experience with Peavey parts.... i had someone give me a mid 90's Peavey Tele copy... Fender sized necks do not fit it.... Peavey use much thicker neck wood at the heel and their width is also a bit wider at the body joint.... ontop Peavey also have a round heel unlike the Fender style tele necks that are more square...... Needless to say every part on Peavey guitars seem to be made to fit their guitars only.... does not make customizing much fun.....

How i made a guitar out of my Peavey tele body was funny... A local music store gives me odd parts here and there.... They had a smashed Fender Acousticaster thing..... This are those fiberglass acoustic guitars in the shape of strats and teles..... The necks may look and feel like electric guitar necks but they are different sized specs slightly. Slightly wider heels then Electric guitars. Anyways it fit the joint on the Peavey tele ok for width, but since Peavey use such thick necks i had to glue in a peice of wood to raise the neck up about 1/8th.... maybe a bit more.. It worked for a neck to body joint.... But the next trouble was Peavey use odd bridges so i had to glue in the holes and redrill for a Fender style replacement bridge.

I added a set of Duncan 59's to it and it sounds amazing, but this set of Duncans are extremely noisy and i have never found out why.... Duncan wants me to mail them in for a look at by their Canadian warehouser.... I took the guitar in to a local tech to check my wireing and he said it was wired up fine, he checked all ground connections with a meter... Must be something funny about that guitar.... i have replaced the pots, swict, and jack, used different wire.... still both 59's have an extremely almost single coil buzz to them.... Kind of odd that both 59's are noisey.... hard to believe that 2 59's a Bridge and a Neck model would suffer the same trouble... I think before i mail them i'll try them out in a strat that i know is really quiet! I also have a Duncan Custom that is also noisey like my 59's as well.... My other Duncan Custom is quiet but no matter which guitar i load the noisey Custom into it has buzz that the other does not.... I have about 10 Ducans and these 3-(2 59's and a Custom) seem to be noisey...
