Ok, it seems like the third time ive had to talk about which low price distortion pedal is the best. Personally i concluded on a ProCo RAT 2 and i like that pedal very much, now the lead guitarist in my band has decided he needs a pedal!

He has borrowed my RAT but isnt sure about it! he would like to know suggestions of what is on the market, and how good they are?? espescially the ibanes ts/ ds series - hes tempted by the ts-9!

Cheers crew,
Doogz

Tone-lok from Ibanez, both the dist and the od are very good.

Best bang for the buck in the TS lines are the TS5 and the TS7....The TS7 edges out the 5 because of the boost switch, locking controls, and is overall stronger in it's metal housing....These pedals are pretty inexpensive for most of us and have great quot;overdrivenquot; tones....

A great distortion pedal is the Marshall Jackhammer....Pick up a used one reasonable...

I see Rid agrees with me and he beat me to the punch by probably seconds!

cheers guys, i have the chorus flange from teh ibanez 7 series and it seems quite good, tim agrees, so thats why he was thinking ibanez 7 series! lets keep htose suggestions flowing cheers lads!

Jackhammer is good for the price, get him to try one out.

This is quot;the onlyquot; pedal currently on my own pedal board that I've kept my grubby little fingers off of as far as mods....It's a great pedal...Nails a Marshall vibe very well on it's overdrive side...I never use the distortion side though..

1 with STRATDELUXER I got oneon his advice and am very impressed. I personally prefer the OD as well but the distortion is good as well, loads of bass and nicely compressed without over doing it. The contour is a brilliant feature as well it lets you change what part of the mids you want to back off. I got mine new for £40 which I thought was a bargain. If you tell me what kind of thing you want to hear I'll record you some soundclips with it. My soundcard's a bit **** but you should be able to get the idea of the different tones.

The Digitech Bad Monkey has been getting raves lately.

Jackhammer is a solid pedal, the other guitarist in my old band used one. Made the keyboard amp he was using vaguley musical.

cheers lads, yeah id love to hear sum soundclips thanks!

What kind of thing do you want to hear?

! you rule! i knew ud say that!

I haven't listened to this so it could be really crap. I'll try and record something better tomorrow. It starts off full gain OD, then Distortion then down on the gain to about 1/3 and then back to OD. Then I whack up the contour and screw around with that for a bit. Hope this helps. I'm playing an Aria STG-004, alder body, maple neck, rosewood fretboard, with a Custom in the bridge throughout. Into the Jackhammer then into my Marshall JTM30 amp and out its direct out into the soundcard.

I use a TS-9 thru my fender blues deville its a great pedal. highly recomend it, but i haven't played to many diferant kinds.

Hey Dooogz, I use an unmoded TS-7 with my new Fender Blues Junior. It's great for blues but I don't like it for moderate high gain like AC/DC type of stuff. Maybe I can try to post a couple of clips if it can help you.

Problem is, I always find my clips better sounding than my actual amp, go figure.

It's also a good booster but it sucks bottom end big time, maybe I should ask John about this.

i like my boss metal zone lil tweakage needed other than that awsome sound uh was i supposed to stay in the lines on this i was never good at that with the ts i tried the emulation on my pod xt and liked it and i dl the xtras for my metal zone again and loved it

I like my boss BD-2 . . . but I've done some simple mods to it to get it to the tone that I like. They're pretty cheap if you scour the local pawnshops (I think that I got mine for 45$).
