Alot of folks think that Hendrix plugged into his fuzz first and then into his wah,but several pictures show him clearly plugged into the wah first....

I've tryed both and I think Hendrix's wahs might have had a quot;bufferquot; circuit installed in his wahs by electronics guru Roger Mayer?

The reason I say this is because a wah running into a fuzz just doesn't work..It sounds terrible because the wah just doesn't have enough balls or the buffering required to run into the fuzz, plus the fuzz circuit suffers from the same problems...

I've also tryed running into a fuzz first and then into the wah and I hate the way that works also....

The only modern day solution for vintage voiced wahs is to install a quot;bufferquot; into the wah...I've used the quot;foxRoxquot; circuit and it does allow you to plug into the wah first and then into your fuzz....I'm not currently using a fuzz, simply because I don't like the way a wah and fuzz sound together.....There's too much coloration of my wah tones with the fuzz engaged...

The other day I was asking if this is still a problem with the quot;Tweak Fuzzquot; but I got no answers on it?

Check out 3 great shots of Hendrix and you'll see his coiled guitar cord going into a Vox wah before it goes to his Fuzz Face and the other effects...I still say Roger Mayer was the guru behind Hendrix's effects and he figured out ways to make it all work for Jimi....

from : localhost/ Wah BufferI dunno, I've seen those pictures before and always figured that he had some kind of special mod to make the wah into fuzz sound better than it does for me . . . I've only ever been able to get good sounds out of a fuzz into wah personally . . .

Hendrix had a great wah tone...He'd almost have to have a buffering system, otherwise he'd have screaming feedback and just a crappy non-musical wah tone....

Wah first into a fuzz is terrible....Fuzz into a wah first works, but it colors the wah too much for my tastes....

Wah then fuzz, the other way around sounds like poo.

i do both -have a DS-1 and SD-1 'straddling' the wah pedal, so that the first pedal boosts the signal going in, and the second colours the tone coming out... i never use a wah at practises though, i can never get the sound i like

would something like an MXR micro boost in front of the wah help matters? or compression?

to tell the truth, i dont like hendrix's heavy fuzz tone that much.

In a few songs it just sounds a bit too sloppy and out of control, and he tops it off with an excessive amount of avant garde style improvisation with the whammy. It's too much quot;noisequot; for my tastes.

His clean tones and playing on the other hand....that's another story in my book. I think he got the best cleans ever!

I got a quickie John-How would a twin sound with a fuzz and wah turned up? Will it's wattage rating and design help it get anywhere close to hendrix'ish marshall tones?

I wish I could find my old notes from when I was digging into Hendrix's gear/tone. I'm certain that he did have various mods performed on his wahs, but I don't recall exactly what

With Roger Mayer behind the wheel, you can surely bet on it....Page and Beck and maybe Clapton used his pedals also..

Not sure, simply because I'm not a fuzz user? Post this and I'm sure someone could answer this one for ya..

I have a Teese picture wah and a Roger Mayer Spitfire fuzz and it sounds great with either one in front. My guess is Hendrix changed the orientation from time to time depending on the tone he was after.

Quite possible?

I prefer to plug my guitar into the fuzz, then wah.

One thing that kind of annoys me is that the layout that they have on guitar geek appears that they have the inputs mixed around?

a fuzz into a high wattage fender amp does not sound very good i think....i did not like it going into my fender twin

maybe he was so blazed out of his mind that he didn't care and just played?

What about using another pedal in between the wah and fuzz as a buffer? like a floor tuner maybe?
