I am going to NY for a weekend, and I want to visit Guitar Center at Manhattan to see if I can find a few pedals. I want to take a look at Boss OD-20, DD-20 and PH-3, and the Line6 FM-4. Also, I might want to see if they got a good Fender Stratocaster Lite Ash or a Highway strat.
Is the prices at Guitar Center good on pedals and guitars, compared to, let's say, musiciansfriend.com?
Is there an advice for me? This is my first time in the USA, and it's the first time I visit a larger guitar store, so I'm not very familiar with this....
Or is there another guitar store on Manhattan I should rather take a look at, which have the effects and guitars I mentioned?
welcome to the forum
isnt your username an obsenity in spanish?
you should be able to get prices at least as good as musiciansfriend.com ... if you will be spending on multiple pedals and a guitar, dont be afraid to 'grind' them a little for a discount .. ask them for their absolutel best price for the whole package ...
enjoy your visit
cheers

Welcome aboard! You should find their prices to be comperable to MF, if not a little cheaper. There a few places online that have better or equivalent prices on a few things, but their prices are usually pretty good. They should have all the stuff you mentioned, too. I don't know if there are any good local stores in the area, but there are several guys on here from New York. They can probably tell you.
When you're just dealing with pedals, they're always the most convienient.

Thanks But no, I just thought of the band Chingon who plays in the Kill Bill dvd, and just added something. Sorry, I was really running out of ideas..
Uhm, thanks for the tip
Guitar Center only carries the Line 6 Delay modeler now (No Filter, Modulation or Distortion, although they do have the Tone Core Pedals). I believe Accessories are the easiest to negotiate (Pedals, strings, cables, pickups, etc...)

Yes, guitar center will make a deal on acessories and pedals, etc... If you already know what you want, I would recommend finding the lowest price on MF, AMS, or Music123, and print the page and take it into the store. They should without hesitation match that price or beat it. Thats what I do, and sometimes I get lucky and they'll give me an additional 10% off. I'm a regular shopper at my local GC...
PS - GC is owned by MF (or vice versa) and they will always match or beat the advertised price...
While you're in NYC, you should also go to 48th St down on 7th Ave (IIRC). There are several shops there (Manny's, Sam Ash, etc), and I've heard good things about 30th St. Guitars too.
Also, mention that you're a new player (just started) and they'll usually give you a discount too, at least the guy at mine does, lol. I was offered the Zakk Wylde set for 150 bucks new.
Thanks for great answers everyone
Also, I was aware of what to do about the power supply. So I found out I can purchase the Boss TU-2 (nice to have a tuner too), and use the Boss PCS20A Daisy Chain to supply power to the other Boss-pedals. Someone having experiences with the daisy chain? It looks very handy!
PS: I am a little aware of the daisy chain to not be sufficient in length considering the size of the OD-20 and DD-20. Comments...?

Yes. They're competing with themselves.

IF you are going to NY to visit music stores you have to go to 48th street. 48th Street has Manny's Music (Hendrix used to shop there) Rudy's Music Stop, Sam Ash (the original) and there are a few other cool shops there. Go uptown between 6th and 7th ave.
There is also a place on 30th street called 30th street guitars if I remember right. They also have an excellent assortment of pedals... probably better than some of the others.
Another place to go is down in the village (Grenwhich Village) on Bleeker street is Matt Umanov guitars. Unfortunately this is making you run all over the city, but it will be a blast shopping in some great music stores. 48th street would be the place to start. I think there is a lot more to offer up there than at guitar center. (I don't think guitar center has a place in Manhattan they are out on Long Island).

You may have to skip one or two plugs to get to the one that reaches the -20s.

Oh. Didn't thought of that. Well, thank you
And thank you for the tip, bludave. I'll go to some of the stores you mentioned.
Oh yeah, and Guitar Center isn't allowed to sell ESP or Gamp;L guitars although MF does.... lol
I don't pay the asking price for ANYTHING at GC. When I bought my EVH Phase 90 it was marked $ 129... I paid $119 I believe. They took $20 off the price of my Fulltone FD-2 Pedal. I am going to pay no more than $250 for the Clyde Delux wah and it normally sells for $299 or something. I always make an offer there and they usually take it. Just throw something low out there... the sales guy will look in the computer and tell you what he can go. I wouldn't do a package deal. Haggle each piece individually to can really hammer them down one by one.
RGN, I quot;have toquot; purchase four Boss-pedals, one Roland expression-pedal, and a guitar. If I should do your method, get each at a lower price individually, is that possible? What do I say in order to do your method...?
