Hey, I was on the Gibson site (nice new look) and i saw a link to Kramer and i decided to check out what Kramer was...low and behold I found a guitar that has peaked my interest...all i need from you guys is input about this model:

from : localhost/Through Construction!
QUAD-RAIL Pickups!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For.....:$329.99!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This thing seems to have it all! Tel me about it please!!!

Thanks!

I have one and it's a great guitar. I've used it for rehearsals, gigs, home use....holds up fantastic. Ditch the stock pickups, put some Duncans or Dimarzios in there and it's a great sounding and playing guitar. Never regretted buying mine.

the old US kramers (80s ?) were great, no experience with the new ones. I guess you can't compare them.

mine is nice n solid. Has epi pots and switches that i swapped out. Now its a fine working axe and i love it. The pups sound meaty and i bit on the bassy side. i think i want a bit more highs and bite so one day ill get some SDs

I've owned a few 80's kramer models, and all those have been great. I can't really speak for the new ones....some people love 'em and some people hate 'em. I think its odd though how gibson decided to exchange the names on the cheap models and the mid-priced models (striker and focus).

Never pick up an 80's Kramer striker, cause you'll be gettin a guitar made out of plywood. The new ones shouldn't be too bad though...

I own two of the newer Kramers.

I own a Striker, and a Vangaurd PRO... the latter is now discontinued.

The PRO series were their best guitars, but the two best ones... the Baretta PRO and Vangaurd PRO are now discontinued because they're trying to sell the inferior 1984 guitar. My Vangaurd PRO came stock with an Original Floyd Rose Trem and Pickups (CC and PG). It's a great guitar, good acoustic sound to it, the trem is great and so are the pups.

The Striker is another story... cheaper, and with the licenced floyd and quad rail pickups. The pickups sound like sh!t and the floyd's arm came loose and had to be replaced. The guitar now has an original floyd arm... and will have an original floyd trem when i get some more money... and some duncan pickups in it. One good thing i will say though is that the construction is pretty good, the wood is more resonant than i had expected for the price and the neck is the most comfortable i've ever played! (although, admittably, it's only personal preference that i particularly like the neck profile).

I've played the Baretta you're thinking about, and it's much the same as my striker in many ways.... the trem isn't great, and the pickups sound like shlt. Still a good guitar for the price, but i promise you'll want to change the pups and when you play an original floyd trem you'll notice it's much better.

Coming to think of it.... i'd save a little more money and get one of those Schecter's that come with the original floyd and duncan pickups.

i'd like to hear more about those kramer guitars, they look like fairly good deals

I like the looks of the Kramer Les Paul copies at Musicyo myself. On another note, I got a dual rail Kramer off Ebay and use it in my #1 guitar in the neck position, and I love it. Not sure if I'd like the quad rail in the bridge position though. I think for around $300 any of those middle-of-the-road Kramers would be nice. Probably bad on the resale, but who cares.

Those Steinbergers at musicyo look cool to me as well.
