I've decided after much ado that trying to revive my ageing Ibanez s540 with new pickups isn't worth it and I am in the market for another floyd-equipped superstrat.

I'm considering models of good superstrats (HSH config, OFR preferred) in the Jackson / Charvel range, around the USD$800 range.

Things I don't like - Korean made is a big no-no, and I really don't like cheap floyd imitations (with the exception of Schaller Floyds and LoPros).

Jackson/Charvel experts, this is your moment to help a potential owner out - your opinions please!!!

In particular, I heard a lot about the Jackson DK1 - how much is the right price to pay for one of these?

800$ will get you a used usa Soloist or even a San Dimas plated Ontario Pointy, or a New SLSMG or SL-3 should also be in that range. But HSH is a problem, you may find a used one, but HSH is rare on non custom Jacksons... but it磗 no big deal to rout for a Neck humbucker on a HSS axe if you can磘 do without ( I also prefer neck humbuckers, but the Cool rails and JBJr have always done me well in HSS configs)

Or It would get you a 3 concept dinkies, or 2 model series (best deal there is, get a mod 5 with H-H and a Mod 6 with HSS and you磖e set forever)

Avoid the performer series if you don磘 want korean.... there are japanese performers, but they磖e hard to find and the 12th fret dots are teh only way to tell them apart.

Most USA guitars go for between 700 and 1500 used, depending on exact model and finish.

a New DK-1 will run you in the range of 1500-2k, depending on finish.

It dosent have a Floyd but, I just put a USA Jackson JJ in the trading post for a reasonable price.

for $800 US you could buy almost 3 Ibanez RG5xx series guitars. They are almost all HSH, or you could possible find a used Jem.

Bear in mind that most Import Jacksons have the JT580 or JT580LP trem which is not one of the better copies. Look for the ones that have OFR's or the JT590 (Jackson logo's Schaller) and like Zerb said, HSH Jackson's are tough...

I just remembered, the Heartfield Talons usuall had OFR's or FRII's (Carefull, some FRII's are exactly like the Schaller, others are non-locking.)
