I've got a mahogany, set neck guitar and I want to put a Demon in the bridge, but I don't know what to put in the neck. I want to put a Dimarzio PAF Pro but I don't want the neck to be louder than the bridge. Any suggestions for a pickup.
i have an Alnico II Pro in the neck of my Gibson SG- nothing too overpowering but able to keep up with moderate/ high output bridge pickup. it does well clean amp; at maxed out drive.
what kind of sound do you want and for what type of music, what am i saying the alnico II pro is perfect for every situation. It's the most versatile and best sounding pickup I'v ever heard and would match well with your screamin demon
I play mostly hard rock, but I do play just about everything and need a pickup thats versatile and clean.
paf pro neck - big fat amp; loud, demon in bridge, screechy amp; trebly. Ugh.
OK a simplification but recently for example I tried a bunch of ~9K bridge pickups with the PPro neck...did not have the demon in there but used one in the past, same guitar..twice. Does not have the kinda girth you get from a ppro in the neck.
You need a fairly thick bridge PU to balance well with a PPro neck. Dimarzio Breed (neck model) is a very good fit for a PPro neck. Norton would work well too. Or in Duncanland, a somehting custom-ish.
A2Pro I agree would be a much better match for the Demon.
Jazz neck? clear loud plenty highs!
