My favorite tones are SRV, GNR, COC, Down, Cry of Love, Metallica.
I've got a Strat with a C5 in the bridge which will stay and I've got two Texas Specials from 1997. I was thinking of updating the neck and middle to something different.
I love the Clean SRV tones, but I want a little more beef when I ramp the overdrive. A little more fullness, but something that cleans up really well.
I was looking at the Lil' '59 for the neck and I have no idea what to put in the middle. What do you guys suggest??
Thanks.
why not go with little 59's in the neck and middle?
Well, will I still be able to hold on to that single coil sound with the lil '59's?
Rio Grande Tallboys.
I'll always swear by em for that warm texas tone. ala *cough*SRV*cough*
I've decided to replace the neck Texas Special with a Lil '59 for a beefier sound, but I want to retain that single coil sound. What should I replace the middle pick up with, if at all?
What about QP's in neck and middle?

I just changed my Genny over from a C5/QP/QP combo. Great configuration, especially if you get the QP's quot;tappedquot;.
I have a Strat with a JB in the bridge, a Hot Stack in the middle and a lil59 in the neck. If you want to hold on to a bit of the traditional Strat notched tones a Hot stack in the middle works well.
