1. Ever have one of the string lock blocks get caught in in the saddle, and not be loose enough to really lock the string properly? this happened to me the other day, when I was restringing it, and the string lock on my b was like this, all I needed to fix it was a small flat head screwdriver, a set of small needlenose pliers, which were originally used for dealing with electronics and such, they need to have small teeth on the tip. I just used the small screw driver to push the block to the middle of the space, then gripping the block very tightly with the pliers, wiggled and pulled ever so slightly until it was finally out. you can't just grip it and pull, without scratching the floyd possibly I had a replacement from stew mac, and now it slides around perfectly. I don't know what causes it to happen, but thats one way to fix it.

2. I'm a little confused as to what to do for string tension: if I have 3 springs in the back of the guitar, and the guitar has 10's and is tuned to standard, lets say its balanced perfectly. now, if I add another spring in the back of the guitar, so 4 springs, 10's and is in standard, in order to balance it again, you' have to get the same tension as you had for 3 springs, correct? is there any way to increase string tension, but keep the pitch the same? I don't think there is, because spring tension has to equal string tension, does it not?

If you add a spring, you'll just have to loosen the spring claw a little bit till the Floyd baseplate is flush, when tuned up. The benefit is that there'll be less string warble and your strings won't go flat when bending one string.

When the block gets stuck in the saddle, I just put some WD-40 on the block then put it back in.

Regularily disassembling the bridge and cleaning/coating the moving parts with vasoline helps your Floyd live longer, too.
