I had a 500k push/pull pot installed in a Yamaha AES620 (mahogany body, maple cap, set-in neck, JB bridge, 59 neck, two vol and master tone config w/ les paul switching and coil tap).. I like the nice even taper.. but the JB sounds a lot less trebley.. seems to have rolled off the highs... initially I thought this was the SD pickup cover I added on it but I'm starting to think that going from the initial 250k tone pot to a 500k altered the tone.. is this common and will switching to the 250k quot;brightenquot; my tone?.. I was told that 500k's are usually preferred for SD pups.. is there an quot;optimalquot; pot for a JB?

Switching to a 250 will do exactly the opposite... it takes off some brightness... I use a '59 in the bridge of my strat and it's really bright even with a 250k... maybe you've got it way to close to the strings?
