ok, it's not really modding but a slight alteration. I wanna change my Spider II 30W 1x12 Combo into a closed back just to give it a tighter sound and so on. The woodwork itself isn't a problem but would it even be worth the effort? The speaker is a celestion G12E-50(custom design for line 6 so no further information to get). So if anyone here can help me to find out if it would be worth it and if there are any special wood recommendations i would greatly apreciate it. Thanks in Advance.

bump, no one who can help me?
I'm betting that Line 6 used a pretty cheap piece of particle board for that amp. That being said, don't worry about material if you wish to try a closeback. YOu can almost try it out by sticking the amp right up against the wall as close as you can. See how you like the change in tone.
Take a larger piece of wood than you need and just cover the back and hold it on with some bungee cords or something. See how you like the tone.
They designed that modeling amp with an open back in mind. I'm not sure if you could really mess it up, so give it a try. If you like the tone, that is all that matters.
Let us know how your experiment turns out.
PS. Vox went from an open back Valvetronix to a closed back one and I'm betting they made little to no changes to the circuit. So, give it a try.
