I'm planning on finally selling my Parker Nitefly. I never play it, it doesn't suit my tastes anymore, and it's very temperamental. I ought to be getting around $400-500 for it which is enough to get a new piece of gear.

I'm thinking about getting a new guitar to replace the Parker. I've been trying out different makes and models lately and can't decide on which direction I want to take. I've been GASing for a Telecaster since I picked up a guitar and recently discovered the Ibanez Artcore series. Both of these guitars are very different from my current metal-centric set-up.

At the same time, I'm also GASing for something closer to my current set-up. I'm particularly interested in an Edwards SG, an ESP EC-1000, and a Schecter Ultra.

This isn't a poll about which guitar would be better for me than the other, more like a suggestion as to the direction I should take. As of right now, I'm leaning more towards the Tele direction since it's something completely new to me tone-wise.

What do you guys think?

Go for the Tele. I can be almost anything you want it to be.

Which Nitefly is it? I have the original Nitefly with 3 s/c pups. I find it to be quite responsive to whatever I'm doing. But that might not be true of the later models with active circuits.

If you want a tele, go to it might cost a little more that $500.

go with a single coil guitar. or even a h-s-s type deal. you could probaly use that. or even a p-90 guitar. maybe mini-buckers or mini bucker neck and full sized hb bridge. if i were you, i would try to mix it up.

Man, I LOVE my Strat... I get nearly ANY tones for which I seek... I have wanted to get a Tele to add to my collection, but I can get the same tones from my Strat... except for that ice pick bridge with tone at 10 sound....

So, the next guitar I get will be HH to changes things up... But I doubt EVERY seriously that it will replace my Strat, just give me something a little different!

Go with what your heart desires, but keep in mind that SSS guitars, or some variations of Single Coil guitars will give you the MOST options!!!

Good Luck,
Allen

Definitely get the tele there are loads of posts on how versatile they can be so even if you decide you want it to be a more metal guitar you could drop in a couple of buckers.

Don't buy an LTD EC-1000. I've had nothing but problems with them. For that matter don't take a risk with a Gibson either.

Dual-hum flame, or quilted-top Tele
or a Blackout tele (has sh1n and pearly gates)
or a Cyclone...whichever one you like, I I I, II I or II IIactually I was playing a Squier '51 the other day at Guitar Center and it was pretty nice, the pickguard is a departure from the depth of my LTD but it was nice...the 3-way rotary knob was confusing though, lol.

or you could get a guitar in your price range...hmm...

so new recommendations of random stuff...

Thinline Tele! from : localhost/one which fits both categories...a semi-hollow ESP!
from : localhost/the custom tele, which fits your price-range... from : localhost/quot;soapbarquot; from : localhost/Firebird VII from : localhost/if they're good (well, the tele's good) but yeah...
