Epi Elitists now on sale at MF $699.

I think they are dropping the Elite line. Nows your chance to get a much better instrument than a Korean/Chinese Epi ...for about the same price

Thats a good price for those. They are every bit as good, if not better, than most recent LP Standards I have played.

I saw that a few minutes ago and almost cried. I had my heart set on one of those a few months ago but got something else instead. Now I'll never get one!

i was planning on buying an epi lp very soon, but didn't see these. what about these is different than regular epi. lps? (besides the goofy headstock)

Made in Japan, USA hardware (not Gibson USA-pickups though, slightly different - but made in the USA anyhow). Full maple top instead of the alder tops with maple veneer of the Chinese/Korean/Czech Epiphones.

That looks like a killer deal, where's extra cash when I need it?

I told my wife the other night about these and how the price has dropped likey they're about to be discontinued. Had I waited a little while in getting an LP, I'd probably have one but I'm perfectly content with the one I have. And I like to play them before I buy, return policy or not. I have to play it first, but that's just me. If you don't mind mail order or prefer it, go for it.

I've yet to see one Elite model in person myself. From what I've read, these weigh on average 12 pounds or more, not for everyone. Also they use African quot;mahoganyquot; which, I've read on this very board somewhere, is not true mahogany. But hey, if it sounds good go for it.

I've only played two. One amplified, one not. Both were nice instruments. Pretty plaintops too. The Elite SG I played was very nice as well.

Neither Paula was anywhere close to 12 pounds, though they did have some heft to them. I'd say closer to 10.

I've just seen a bunch of threads lately about folks wanting a quot;cheapquot; Les Paul. This is prolly as good as your are going to get for the $. I think they are very much worth the price ($699) they are asking..at full price, not so much.

HC has a good thread going on them.....lotsa pics.

I just sent the page to my wife as a Christmas Gift idea. Always wanted a 'Les Paul' type guitar. Thanks for the heads up.

I forgot to add something.....

Damn you, Jeff, for more G.A.S.!!!!!

Now, you see, that's the ONE advantage of being a lefty. There's just too few interesting lefthanded guitars out there to blow al your money on . But the few times I DO spot an interesting guitar, I'm usually out of cash. About three hours ago an auction on eBay of a Swiss guy ended, who wanted to sell a very pretty trans blue Zion Bent T SSS with pickbuard for 1100 Swiss Francs (app. 710 euros).

I did not plug it into a Marshall, but rather a MESA Lonestar, so to answer your question...quot;noquot;

I did not think the stock pups were bad, nor anything that interesting. I would change them most likely. Acoustic tone on both were pretty good, sustain was not mind-blowing, but acceptable...def worth $700..not $1200. But they did not sound any better than my quot;hand pickedquot; Chinese Epi (twin to Eriks). But they were alot prettier and built much better.

yup...that looks like a heckuva deal on those!!! if i had the cashola i wouldn't even think twice!

There was a deal on these about a month ago at American Musical, but they are no longer available there. Must have sold out.

How do these compare to the Tokai guitars? And which finish do we like - vintage sunburst, tobacco burst or cherry burst?

J

Why is it just the les paul standards? The studios are still around (which with the price drop on the standards are the same price as the standard). I wish they had dropped the price on all of their elitist models. I'd be all over one of those casinos or dots!

That deal looks killer!!! Too bad it is a web only thing....for me at least. I gotta hold the guitar I want with my own bare hands. I'm weird like that.

I'm seriously thinking about purchasing one of these. Anybody playing one?

There is a huge thread over at Harmony Central in the guitar forum. Lots of pics and comments from people who bought them recently from AMS.
