All,
Sorry for all the posting. I think I understand what sound I want. I want to be able to play some of the new age sort of quot;lone solo guitarquot; sounds. I was playing along with the singer from Clannad (similar to Enya) and to some other singers, and I think what I'm after is a very singing tone, very beautiful. Therefore, I apologize, but I'll go over stats again: ESP LTD EC100QM guitar (agathis with maple top and rosewood fretboard, dual humbucker). The Sh2/SH4 is tempting because it comes in a set. I want a singing, pure, beautiful tone, and from there I can muddy it up. So, therefore, if your goal was to sound like violinish/singing with solos, what would you pick? I run ME50 multieffects board, so the effects department is fine, and a 1972 fender twin reverb, so the amplification is taken care of. I GREATLY appreciate all who have helped me make decisions on here!

Dont buy pickups just because they come in a set. Read the pickup stats on this sight and then find what you want. For your style I might say... gasp a JB because they sound light and lack punch and.. well, balls paired with a SH-1 '59 because you need that lower output vintage style tone.

Bro, i love the DD but the JB does sing the best
it is known for its singing tones
not too many will dissagree that there is no other that sings quite as good as a JB

The singing tones will likely come from the middle 3 way position, i.e. both humbuckers, just in case you're wondering....

Disregard this if you like, but I think pickups don't have as much to do with what you're looking for. I would recommend a Boogie distortion generator of some sort... I have a Quad preamp and even my $100 JCPenny strat sounds liquidly singing. Still sounds like itself, just really nice. The Boss distortions are sometimes, IMHO a bit stiff and grainy.
