I'm looking to get a relatively cheap effect board or something similar for my brother for Christmas. He's kind of a beginner, so he doesn't have any experience with effects or anything, so I want to get him something that's not too complicated. Basically just something to get some crazy sounds out of. I'm not big on effects either so I have no idea on a lot of the stuff. I was looking at this....

Is that any good, or is it not worth the money? quot;goes a step further by adding USB connectivity, as well as Cubase LE. quot;. What exactly does this mean? Is Cubase LE some type of recording program? And the board connects to the computer somehow? Do I need any adapters or anything to connect it to the computer?

Sorry for all the questions but I'm stupid when it comes to his stuff. If this isn't something I want to buy, can you maybe point out some alternatives? Thanks

Roland/Boss is the king of economical effects. Look for any of their multi-effects proccesors, like the GT-8 or ME-50 on eBay.
