hey tone bros

my dad has 5 or 6 ole JBL 12 inch speakers for the 60s down in the basement, and were not using them!

im thinking of fixing up my twin reverb a bit, its a real bastard amp, and id rather not get into the details as to how far from stock form it is right now

anyways, i need to get 1 or 2 of those JBL's re-coned, and im just wondering how much money a re-cone costs?

There is a lot of place's online that recone speakers. But if you can find
someone local your better off. my guess is the S amp; H on a JBL is close
to or even more than 1/2 price on the recone.

i know a couple people locally that can re-cone them, im just wondering a range of what it might cost?

bump?

expect 130-180 bucks man. Those JBL's are pricey to recone. I had my 2 d130f 15 inchers (from a 65 showman cab) reconed for 150 each. The kit alone will cost you 100 dollars.

DAMN!......... well, i guess i might have to start thinking of an alternate solution! LOL

if you're willing to sell a few, you can make some serious bucks on ebay. They're d120f's right? You can expect to sell them for at least 250 on ebay.

yes.....they are, theres 6 of em, plus another one that is like a 300 watter........ and then we have big JBL subwoofer cabs, that are bigger than washing machines, and those have huge 18 inch JBLS

Each

im selling my two D130F's and buying a new amp with the money.

When i first got them, the auction ended at 350 dollars for one working d130f and one torn cone d130f. They arrived broken and the seller refunded my money and let me keep both broken speakers.

Two recones later and i have 2 great d130f's for 300 dollars. If you really want to make some of that reconing cash back, recone two for yourself, then recone two more and sell them on ebay.

actually, i think theres 2 down there that are in decent condish, and the cones are fine, so ill give those a try
