what do you think of this combination in a les paul :

Neck ---gt; Alnico 2 Pro Neck

Bridge ---gt; 59 or Alnico 2 Pro Bridge ?

music stylesamp;tones : classic rock/hard rock/soft/balladsamp;blues/alternative/pop

I think the AII Pro Neck and 59 Bridge would give you a nice variety of tones. 59 bridge is great for Clapton, Page, Vintage type sounds. The AII Pro gives you a nice warm buttery smooth neck that wont get too bassy in a LP. I've never tried an AII Pro in the bridge however, but I've played quite a few with the 59 and absolutely love it for classic rock and blues.

Comes down to personal preference.

Through a cranked Marshall, the 59B is going to sound more like Clapton's '60 Les Paul on the John Mayall Bluesbreakers album: brighter top, more bass, plenty of mids.

Through a cranked Marshall, a set of Alnico 2 Pros is going to sound more like Slash's Les Pauls: smoother, more mids, less bass, less glass to the treble.

Which tone do you want?

That looks like a killer combo...

Ive tried an a2p in the bridge my LP and liked it for what it was. It was real smooth and mellow but at the same time had alot of punch. I guess thats where the mids came to shine through.

I havent tried the 59b but it also sounds like a great pup. I have a JBJ in it now but I think that it is too high in output for what you are looking for.. noetheless Ive tried also the C5 and CC in my LP and still prefer the higher output JB (at this point anyway)

I think you'd really like the a2p for some kicking rock n roll tones. But, as it sounds by reading what Lew and O'Riely say, the '59 seems that it is a fine pup!

In my H-150 I've got a jazz/A2P combo in dbl. creme. It sounds fantastic. Alot of guys like A5 in the bridge to add punch, it's all a matter of preference.

I just ordered an AP2 neck / C5 bridge como for my new Ibanez SZ. I will let you know how it sounds. At the moment I have a Gibby 490 neck / PG b combo in it and it sounds pretty dang good but the Gibby belongs to my bro so I have to give it back, lol.

My favorites are

C-5/59
CC/APH
Seth Lover set.

The 59b-gt;Alnico Pro neck is a nice combo.

It is. It's similar to what I use in my dual humbucker Strat: Pearly Gates neck amp; 59 Trembucker.

When it comes to humbuckers, I tend to like A2 for the neck and A5 for the bridge. Since A2 humbuckers often have a little less bass that keeps the neck pickup from getting muddy and since A5 humbuckers often have a little more bass that keeps the bridge pickup sounding deep and fat instead of thin.

I have an APH set comming for my Les Paul Standard, and have an APH set in my Dean Hardtail. I got my bridge APH overwound just slightly, and it adds nice kick to the bridge position. I don't find it thin at all. I do find that with a 59' or a C5 in the bridge of a Paul, I have to dial down the tone knob to control the treble. I prefer running wide open, but it is useable.

Either will work, I'm an A2 kind of guy overall.

thanx guys actually I made up my mind about A2Pro neck and 59 bridge to get different combinations, well 59 is a very recommended and promising pup so I'll stick to it,A2Pro is my neck beauty and I'm sure it'll sound great in my axe...thanx everyone take care...

guys how would A2Pro neck and 59 bridge combine together in the middle switch position in an LP?
any opinions or experiences would be very welcome thanx...

They'll combine beautifully. The PGN and 59TB in my Strat sure do! Lew
